Tech Mahindra of India might setup in Philippines

Indian outsourcer Tech Mahindra is reportedly considering a new BPO operation in the Philippines.

If the company moves into the Philippine market, it will be its third overseas operation after setting up offshore contact centers in Northern Ireland and the UK. Tech Mahindra is reportedly attracted to the Philippines’ so as to be able to better cater to global telecom clients in the Asia-Pacific and North America.

If Tech Mahindra sets up in the Philippines, it will follow Indian rivals Wipro and Infosys who have already opened contact centers in the country. At present, Tech Mahindra has five facilities in India across Kolkata, Chandigarh, Noida, Pune and Chennai.

Vodafone NZ to trial Manila center

Vodafone New Zealand is reportedly moving some of its contact center work to Manila using outsourcer Salmat.

Vodafone’s Paul Brislen told reporters the shift was only a trial and the contact center work would be returned to New Zealand if it was deemed unsatisfactory after three to six months. Brislen said the Manila center would be fielding calls on how to set-up a Vodafone DSL modem for the company’s landline broadband service, negating the need to grapple with unfamiliar New Zealand place names.

Salmat’s 450-person Manakau-based contact center in New Zealand had hit capacity, and the natural next step was to tap Salmat’s international network. Vodafone already diverts some service calls to its Egypt center.
